How long is the workshop?

The session runs for 90 minutes—just the right amount of time to learn proper technique, learn and do some warm-up and cool-down stretches, and connect with others.

What should I bring?

Bring your walking shoes (preferably with good support), comfortable workout clothing, sunscreen, and a water bottle. Dr. Kim will provide your Series 300 fitness walking poles to take home.

Anyone who wants a more effective, engaging walk, and full-body workout! It’s ideal for those concerned with bone health, posture, balance—or simply wanting a fun new fitness routine. No experience needed.

I'm not very fit, athletic or coordinated. Is pole walking for me?

Yes! Pole walking is a simple yet highly effective form of exercise for people of all ages, sizes, health conditions and athletic abilities. When first learning how to pole walk, aim for progress not perfection. Enjoy the journey.

Is it too intense for beginners or older adults?

Not at all! The workshop is fully beginner-friendly. You’ll work at your own pace while Kim provides modifications to suit all fitness levels.

What happens if it rains?

We’ll move the workshop to a nearby covered area or reschedule for the following week. You’ll receive a notification by email.

Where do we meet?

Traville Gateway (off Shady Grove). There is a green grassy square area right in front of Dunkin Donuts, Bageltown Deli (9749 Traville Gateway Drive), and beside The Universities at Shady Grove. We will meet at the picnic benches in the enclosed area. There’s ample parking in the Giant parking lot.
