Neurodiversity Profiling Tool Training
Overview
PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE MAKING A BOOKING.
What is the neurodiversity profiling tool?
The neurodiversity profiling tool is the needs-led tool for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and is suitable for children and young people aged 0-19.
Children and young people who may have differences that are impacting on their ability to thrive are able to access the needs-led profiling tool (guided conversation) with their parent carer and a trained professional. This approach enables the identification of the individual needs of the child or young person and is accompanied by the Neurodiversity Profiling Tool - Parent Carers Cornwall website. The website provides the accompanying advice and information to support the identified need and suggests types of strategies that can be put in place to help manage those needs in different areas of a life, such as at home, at their early years setting, school or college, and in the community.
The neurodiversity profiling tool is a visual document that considers nine developmental strands for a child or young person aged 0-19. This includes speech and language, energy levels, attention and impulse control, emotion regulation, motor skills, sensory needs, flexibility and adaptability, social interaction preferences, and cognitive skills.
The process of completing the profile is done with the family, and not for, or to the family.
The neurodiversity pathway in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly is not linear. The profiling tool supports with identifying and meeting need early through reasonable adjustments and strategies in a variety of settings to enable the individual to thrive. These strategies and adjustments are not dependent on a diagnosis.
