Neurocircle is a support group for family, friends and carers of Neurodivergent individuals. Sessions consist of guest speakers, advice and support drop-ins and a warm and friendly environment for a cup of tea and a chat.

Session Title: Understanding and Learning Together.

Come along to our Neurocircle session where we aim to share and increase understanding of neurodiversity for family, friends and carers of Neurodiverse individuals including key traits, strengths, and common barriers of Neurodiversity; Burnout, ARFID, Alexithymia, Routine and Processing time, Sensory barriers…

We welcome you to share personal strategies, struggles, and coping mechanisms in a supportive space as well as discover and exchange useful resources (books, apps, podcasts, websites) to support others within a safe and open environment for mutual support.

1. Welcome & Introduction

  • Facilitator welcome and overview of session aims.
  • Group introductions (optional sharing of names and roles/connection to neurodiversity).
  • Ground rules for creating a safe, respectful, and confidential space.

2. Understanding Neurodiversity

  • Brief presentation/discussion:
    • What is neurodiversity?
    • Common neurodivergent profiles
    • Strengths often associated with neurodivergence.
    • Barriers and challenges individuals may face in daily life.
  • Open Q&A or discussion prompts.

3. Shared Experiences: Coping & Struggles

    • What have we found challenging as carers, friends, or family?
    • What coping strategies or tools have helped?
    • What do we wish others understood about our experiences?
  • Optional sharing circle format with time for everyone to speak if they choose.

4. Resource Exchange

    • Share favourite books, podcasts, websites, support groups, or apps.
    • Create a collective list of helpful tools.
    • Facilitator can provide a printed/emailed resource sheet for everyone to take home.

If you have any concerns or questions, please speak to a practitioner within the session who will aim to support as best as they can.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the Junction?

The Junction is based in the Swindon Town Hall by the Swindon town Library and Swindon Dance. We all share the same building, but we do have separate external doors. Please use the Big Red door either next to Swindon dance or along commercial road.

Where can I park?

There is limited disabled spaces outside of the Town Hall, nearby carparks can be found within a couple of minutes walk; Regent circus carpark or The Wyvern Carpark.

Do you hold other sessions?

Neurocircle supports family, friends and carers of Neurodivergent individuals and is ran every 3rd Friday of the month consisting of guest speakers, advice and support drop in sessions and just somewhere to come and have a cup of tea and chat!

Where can we access further Autism support?

We are able to support those who are 16+ who are on the waiting list for an Autism assessment or who already has a diagnosis of Autism. You can self refer on the website link below: https://www.sgmind.org.uk/
