Net Migration Stats - What’s Next for Policy and Public Attitudes?
The latest UK net migration statistics are set to be released by the Office for National Statistics on the morning of 27 November 2025. They will shape both the headlines of the day but also the political and policy debates leading into 2026. If, as expected, headline net migration continues to fall, there are challenges for all political parties in how to respond, as well as implications for employers and public services.
British Future’s lunchtime webinar brings together leading voices to analyse the statistics and offer early insights into what the new figures reveal about the changing nature of migration.
We are pleased to welcome Professor Alan Manning (LSE), former Chair of the Migration Advisory Committee and author of a new book ‘Why immigration policy is hard’, as well as Marley Morris, Associate Director for Migration at the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), to help locate the new statistics in the broader context of political and policy choices and economic realities. Sunder Katwala and Heather Rolfe of British Future will also be sharing new Ipsos findings from the Immigration attitudes tracker which has studied public opinion on immigration now for a decade.
