What can mend with needle felting? Holes in sweaters and other woolen items created by moths and wear and tear. Size of the hole can range from micro to elbow in diameter.
What to bring: Wool, cashmere or wool blend items such as sweaters, socks, hats, and scarfs. Practice material will be provided.
What you’ll learn:
- What causes moth holes and prevention
- Basics of using supplies - barbed needle, roving and foam
- Wool selection - how to prepare the material for the best mend
- Technique - mending and adorning
- Practice and troubleshooting
- Apply needle felting to your project with individual consultation
What you’ll leave with:
Mended and/or adorned items, needles, foam and a new found confidence to mend or adorn any holey sweater or woolen item you come across in your closet, thrifting or otherwise.
Don’t forget! You don’t need a hole to adorn with needle felting. Bring in any item that needs pizzaz.

Water and tea available. No food provided but you are welcome to bring a snack.
While you can adorn any fabric with wool, it "sticks" to wool the best and therefore is best suited for wool items. The roving does adhere to acrylic but it is not recommended for mending, just adorning.
Tools and materials are included. the only thing you need to bring is your wool item to mend or adorn.
Yes! There will be practice material provided and you are welcome to use the practice material and you'll leave with all the skills and tools to do this at home so when you do come across something which needs mending or adorning, you are ready to go!
Same technique, different application. Making 3-D objects using needle felting using the same materials and technique but we will not be making a new object. You will be placing the roving on your existing wool to mend holes or make designs.
