Date: Saturday, December 7, 2024

Time: 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Description: Join local fiber artist Erin Carlson of Red Cottage Fiber Studio in crafting a sturdy 2-dimensional woolen ornament with the help of your favorite cookie cutter! Students will learn about the wonderful properties of wool which allow it to felt into lovely solid forms and experiment with surface decoration to bring their ornament to life. No experience necessary and beginners welcome.

Students will leave with 1-2 finished ornaments and the materials to complete any unfinished pieces at home.

Note: this workshop is being offered two separate times on the same day. Please be sure you are registering for the time that you would like to attend!

Tuition: $55 + $20 materials fee

We really want you to join us in the studio! Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to alleviate some of the financial burden of attending a class.

Materials: Please come with your favorite cookie cutter or two to shape your ornament. Please note that cookie cutters should have completely open backs for best results. All other materials will be provided.

Location: Contemporary Craft, TImmons Studios (5688 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201). Note, this workshop will take place in the Papers Studio, which is on the first floor of the building.

There are 2 entrances to the Timmons Studios.

One entrance is facing Butler Street. To access the Paper Studio from the Butler Street facing entrance, there are a total of 8 stairs to attend

One entrance is facing 57th Street. This entrance is accessible by ramp, with no stairs to ascend. The Paper Studio is located down the hallway from this entrance.

Erin Carlson is a multidiscplinary fiber artist working and teaching in th Pittsburgh area for the last decade. She loves to help students explore their creativity through the use of fibers.
