About this Event

** REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. QUESTIONS? CONTACT MSILL@ELON.EDU **

North Carolina is home to some of the biggest challenges and best innovators in local news, along with a growing network of civic information allies and community stakeholders. Gather with us in the new year to make new connections, learn what others are doing, and brainstorm ways to build support and community around trustworthy local news as a civic good for NC residents. A list of speakers and facilitators can be found here.

(This is an online gathering via Zoom. Login information will be sent to registrants via email before the event)

8:30-9 am: Morning social

9-11: Speakers and presentations

11-1: Four concurrent, participatory breakout workshops, followed by reports from each group. Attendees will be invited to share and brainstorm in one of these sessions:

* How we know what information communities need and want, and how we’re doing meeting those needs

* How local news can be a trust-builder in the age of distrust

* How new voices and formats are expanding what local news does for communities and audiences

* How to boost what's working with collaborations, partnerships, student media hubs and other capacity-building approaches

All sessions will be recorded and shared with all registrants afterward.

Presented by the NC Local News Workshop at Elon University with support from the UNC Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Local Media
