Navigating Mental Health Stigma in Business
Overview
Event Description:
Join the Nebraska Opportunity Exchange (NOE) for a ThriveTrack: Behavioral session focused on the real, often unspoken impact of mental health stigma in business communities.
Entrepreneurs and small business owners regularly carry stress, pressure, and isolation. Yet many still feel they must hide mental health struggles to be seen as capable, strong, or “professional.” This session will create space to talk honestly about that reality and offer tools to respond in healthier ways.
Experts from UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI), Dr. Allison Morton and Dr. Erika Franta, will help you:
- Understand how mental health stigma shows up in business settings, networks, and teams
- Recognize the personal impact of stigma on decision making, leadership, and performance
- Learn language and approaches that reduce stigma when talking with staff, partners, and peers
- Identify practical strategies to build a more supportive workplace and founder culture
The session will blend education, reflection, and practical strategies that you can bring back to your business and community.
Who should attend:
- Small business owners and founders
- NOE microloan applicants and participants
- Managers and team leads who want to better support staff
- Ecosystem partners who work with entrepreneurs
