Description: This course prepares mandatory reporters with the knowledge and skills to recognize and report child abuse and neglect along with an overview of the different types of abuse and their prevalence in Nebraska.

Objectives:

  • Recognize Types of Abuse and Neglect: Identify different forms of abuse and neglect that children may experience and the signs that indicate a child is being abused.
  • Responding to Suspicions: Learn the appropriate steps to take and the reporting procedures when child abuse or neglect is suspected.
  • Understanding the Follow-Up Process: Gain insight into what happens after a report of child abuse or neglect is made.
  • Prioritizing Self-Care: Understand the importance of self-care and develop strategies to implement self-care practices that promote mental, emotional, and physical well-being

Audience: This training is intended for school personnel, childcare providers, medical and mental health professionals, youth-serving organizations, CASA volunteers, foster parents, service providers and church leaders.

BraveBe Child Advocacy Center is a non-profit organization providing a safe, child friendly location to conducting forensic interviews and medical evaluations for children in Southeast Nebraska who have experienced child abuse or neglect. BraveBe also provides a variety supportive services to children, families and the community including child advocacy, prevention training and special events.
