Do I need "professional" camera equipment

Nope - a lot of times people bring only their phones and still capture really beautiful photos. For wildlife it's best to have a DSLR or Mirrorless camera and at least a 300mm lens but for flowers, landscapes, and more you don't need anything special.

Absolutely! Kids are always welcome. In fact in June we had 2 little ones with their own cameras and they LOVED it. They were there for over 2 hours without complaints. Plus all of the adults really enjoyed having them as they were a lot of fun.

Is there a lot of walking?

That really depends on how much wildlife we see (what a lot of the folks there often want to see) but it's always up to the group. We're very rarely over 15 minutes from the parking lot, often less than 5 minutes. I always make sure everyone agrees with the distance.
