Nature Immersion Experience
Overview
Welcome to the Nature Immersion Experience!
Participate in a morning of nature-connection and mindfulness on the grounds of The National Cathedral. Slow down, absorb the landscape, and reawaken your senses. Science confirms what we already know. Time spent in nature is restorative for both mind and body and leads to improved mental health, mood, physical fitness, and sleep. Being outdoors can also decrease blood pressure and reduce stress.
Reflect and observe at your own pace or follow the invitations to experiment with different ways of welcoming nature into our lives. The Nature Immersion Experience offers the benefits of forest bathing combined with reflective readings, journaling or sketching, with facts about our natural surrounds. You’ll leave feeling calm and with a set of tools to use anywhere and anytime.
What to Wear:
Dress for the weather as we will spend all of our time outside. Even in sunny weather, shaded areas can feel cool. Wear comfortable shoes. Sneakers are fine.
What to Bring:
We will be walking short distances, stopping occasionally to sit, discuss, and contemplate. I suggest bringing a journal and a pen or pencil if you feel inspired to write or sketch.
Facilities:
There are restrooms and a water fountains inside the Cathedral and inside the Open City Cafe. Feel free to carry a water bottle, we will be spending most of the time out in the gardens.
