Aspire Counseling & Consulting Services and Social Workers of Alabama is excited to present to you our live CEU event.

The purpose of this presentation is to facilitate review and comprehension of the NASW Code of Ethics, with focus on improvemnet/stregthening of awareness of unconscious/implicit biases within the social work profession. In this presentation you will gain the knowledge of possible implications of implicit bias, with the goal of strengthening client-professional rapport and improve possibility for healthier/successful client outcomes. Additionally, the presentation's endeavor is to contribute to professional development, challenge the professional to engage in self-reflection, strengthen self-awareness, and identify areas where gaps/barriers may exist within client-professional relationship.

Objectives:

  • To gain recognition of common automatic thinking distortions
  • To strengthen understanding of various forms of implicit bias
  • To engage in brief review and porcessing of NASW Code of Ethics
  • To identify at least one area of professional development that professionals can apply in their respective role


About Our Speaker


Presenter: Jennifer Nelson, LICSW-S

Ms. Jennifer Nelson is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and holds the license of LICSW-S in the state of Alabama. Ms. Nelson has been practicing social work for nearly 16 years. She is the founder/CEO of Kintsugi Counseling and Consulting, LLC and currentlyw orksin in private practice, where she provides cousnleing to teens, adults, individuals, and couples. Ms. Nelson also provides clinical supervision and has facilitated multiple continuing education and professional development workshops.
