What is a Mythsinger?

Accepted Answer

In Daniel Deardorff's use of the term, a Mythsinger is one, in the old, Oral Tradition sense of that word, who is a musician, a storyteller, and a maker of ritual. A mythsinger carries ancient wisdom into current times through practicing the Bardic Arts.

What is StoryNight like?

Accepted Answer

Original music by Daniel “3D” Deardorff plays as you enter. Host Judith-Kate Friedman welcomes you, shares live songs, poems and talks about why we need to hear the old myths. We then follow Daniel (via video) into the StoryHut. He calls and we welcome fire, listen, "feed" the story and each other.

Is this the same Firebird tale that I've heard before?

Accepted Answer

Yes and no. If you're familiar with the story of the Firebird, told out loud, in print, or through the music of Stravinsky's Firebird suite, you'll find familiar elements throughout. And, like all Oral Tradition stories, this telling is true yet new each time, drummed and told afresh from memory.
