Rachel Bell, accordion
Eric Martin, fiddle & viola, voice
Karen Axelrod, 1882 Erard concert grand, accordion

Tunes from the Tunesmith returns accordionist-composer Rachel Bell and pianist-accordionist Karen Axelrod to the La Grua stage, joined by violinist-violist-vocalist colleague Eric Martin. We've heard Karen and Rachel a number of times as Peregrine Road. As Alchemy, they expand their compelling duo soundscape with the rich possibilities of a trio. Their swirling melodic and harmonic strands, occasionally leavened with magical duo textures, will once more leave us breathless. Rachel, a celebrated veteran tunesmith, composed over half of the afternoon's fetching tunes. This Part of The World (2021), her acclaimed collection of 80 compositions, has inspired folk and classical musicians to stay up very late at night... folk fiddlers and flutists take note.
