The program demonstrates that commissioning artists to create works for public spaces brings energy and vitality to a community. Over the past fifteen years, large-scale artworks have appeared in a variety of locations throughout the village of La Jolla, some prominently displayed while others are tucked away in more discreet locations. To date, new works by Amy Adler, Terry Allen, Eleanor Antin, John Baldessari, Math Bass, Mel Bochner, Mark Bradford, Kelsey Brookes, Sandra Cinto, Claudia Comte, Rosson Crow, Einar and Jamex de la Torre, Roman De Salvo, June Edmonds, Kota Ezawa, Gajin Fujita, Anya Gallaccio, Chitra Ganesh, Robert Ginder, Todd Gray, Raul Guerrero, Ann Hamilton, Steven Hull, Robert Irwin / Philipp Scholz Rittermann, Isaac Julien, Nina Katchadourian, Alex Katz, Byron Kim / Victoria Fu, Jean Lowe, Kim MacConnel, Heather Gwen Martin, Ryan McGinness, Roy McMakin, Michael Mercil, Beatriz Milhazes, Richard Allen Morris, Catherine Opie, Julian Opie, Marcos Ramirez ERRE, Gabriella Sanchez, Lorenzo Hurtado Segovia, Rex Southwick, Fred Tomaselli, Monique van Genderen, William Wegman, Gail Werner, and Andrea Zittel have been installed throughout La Jolla.
