Workshop Highlights
- Introduction to multi-color relief printmaking: Understanding the basics of relief printmaking and how a 2-block process works.
- Tools and Materials: Getting familiar with printmaking tools and materials.
- Design Transfer: Techniques for transferring your design from sketch to two lino blocks.
- Carving Techniques: Safe and effective methods for carving your design into the block.
- Inking, Registration and Printing: Selecting colors from a vast supply of alcohol ink pads. Practicing hands-on registration and print a small edition of prints on cotton paper.
What's Included
- Two 3x4 lino blocks (one for each color layer)
- Use of carving tools, registration guides, and a rainbow of archival alcohol inks.
- Archival cotton paper for edition prints.
- Gloves and aprons to keep you clean while you create.
No prior printmaking experience is necessary. Just bring any images or sketches you would like to use for your multi-color prints. (Each block is 3x4" ).
About Liz Ortiz
Liz Ortiz, founder of Mad Hare Press, is a Fort Collins-based multidisciplinary printmaker with a BFA in Photo Image Making & Printmaking. Her accessible, hands-on teaching style makes traditional techniques, especially relief block printing, fun and approachable for all skill levels.

• Liability Waiver & Photo Release: Attendance implies agreement to our standard waivers.
• Ages: Suggested minimum age is 14 years. Sharp cutting tools will be used during this workshop and to prevent any injury it is recommended there be a confident level of hand coordination for any minor.
Parent(s)/guardian(s) have the knowledge on the level of skill and coordination of ones child(ren). Please contact if you have questions regarding suggested age of participants.
• Parent/Guardian Attendence: Minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Parent(s)/guardian(s) must sign liability waiver(s) for any minor and must be present for the entirety of the workshop.
• Allergen Warning: Some materials may irritate sensitive skin or cause potential allergic reactions. Gloves and masks are available.

Due to the nature of the workshop and limited spots, we have a no-refund policy. However, you may transfer your ticket 48 hrs prior to the workshop to another person or another workshop if you cannot attend. Please contact us via thehare@madharepress.com for transfer requests.
Contact: thehare@madharepress.com to discuss alternative payment methods. Payment must be made prior to the event date to hold your spot for the Workshop. Participants can wait for day of payment, however, a spot is not guaranteed. Promo code only counts towards Eventbrite payments.
Petrichor Collective Studios is located in the basement unit of 131 East Lincoln Ave. There is parking on both sides of the building, one on Willow and the other on Lincoln. The Lincoln side parking lot is ADA accessible with an elevator located at the front of the building.
From the Willow street parking lot go through the green gate and down the stairs. The door will be open to our primary gathering space. From Lincoln Ave go in the main doors and take the elevator down to the studio. Take a right out of the elevator and go down the hall until you reach the big room.
Bring an image or two that you plan on using for the two block process. Feel free to bring additional images or sketches for design options. All other materials will be provided.
No prior art or printmaking experience is necessary. This workshop is designed for beginners and experienced artists alike.

Workshops have a minimum suggested age based on safety & tools being used. Anyone over the suggested age is welcome to participate. However, all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the workshop. A ticket must be purchased for everyone who plans to participate.
Each workshop has a suggested age based on fine motor skill needs. If you believe your child is ready and can safely participate, I trust your judgment. Please reach out if you’d like to discuss whether a particular workshop would be a good fit.
