About this event
MULE EARS
Mule Ears is Wayne Sutton (voice, guitar), Bill Palmer (voice, guitar), Steve Bernal (bass) and Hector Muñoz (drums).
Wayne Sutton and Bill Palmer's musical journey began in a place as unique as their sound: St.Agnes Church in Terlingua, TX, where they first collaborated on Wayne's project, Blue Worm. It was there, in that resonant, sacred space, that they discovered a powerful musical connection. For years, their duo has been built on a foundation of intricate harmonies and masterful songwriting, where every lyric and note is a deliberate part of a larger tale. Wayne and Bill deliver their stories with a raw, emotional honesty, their soulful voices complemented by each other's lead guitar work. Their collaboration is a deep musical conversation built on shared respect and a singular vision.
Bill's musical history runs deep in the Austin music scene, having been a member of influential bands like The Sharecroppers and Hundred Year Flood. He is also an award winning record producer. This background, combined with his skill as a singer and guitarist, has shaped his versatile approach to songwriting and performance. Wayne, a former songwriter and guitarist for the acclaimed Arista recording artists Sister 7, also brings a history of creating with a bigger sound. Their combined experience makes their new full-band project, Mule Ears, a natural and exciting evolution.
Add the thunderous rhythm section of Steve Bernal (bass) and Hector Muñoz (drums), two veterans of the Austin music scene who last played together with Alejandro Escovedo, and you get Mule Ears.
Mule Ears is more than just an amplified version of Wayne and Bill's duo sound; it's a new vehicle for their storytelling. The addition of a rhythm section and layered instrumentation allows their narratives to breathe and build into something grander, without ever losing the powerful harmonies and lyrical depth that define their work. This new direction is a testament to their continuous growth as artists, moving beyond the confines of the acoustic stage to explore a broader, more expansive sound. With Mule Ears, Wayne and Bill are ready to show a new side of their artistry, inviting longtime fans and new audiences alike into their compelling world of song
