Who are these classes for?

Everyone who wants to ride safer, more confidently and faster on a greater variety of terrain. Corners are everywhere, after all.

If you are a beginner, we’ll give you a solid foundation. Skip all the trial and error (and fear, and bad habits).

If you’re an intermediate rider, we’ll show you an even more effective—and way more fun—way to ride your bike. Go faster with less effort. Ride more safely. Shred new terrain. Every advanced thing you want to do is built on the core skills we teach.

If you’re an expert we'll dive deep into the skills for deeper patterning and progression, consistently.

Here is the basic schedule for each day:

Before clinic: When you sign up for this clinic, you will receive free access to our online mountain bike school at www.llbmtb.com. Using the site as a textbook, we’ll provide specific direction on how to dial in your bike, increase your mobility and build fitness. The more prepared you are for camp, the more fun you’ll have.

The clinic: We'll meet at Valmont Bike Park. There we will check your bike setup (this is critical for optimal riding) and work on foundational movements using the RipRow MTB trainer and pump tracks. Then we'll progress your new skills on the variety of fantastic corners (including some hidden ones) at Boulder's Valmont Bike Park.

We believe the greatest improvement comes from a combination of individual learning and practice and in-person time with a qualified instructor.

Lots of riders all over the world—beginners to pros—are reaching new levels of shred with the LLBMTB online mountain bike school. When you combine the online learning with an in-person clinic or group ride, your skills — and fun — will skyrocket.

What you will learn

After 30 years as a rider and 15+ years as a professional bike guy, Lee has learned some things, and he's always learning more things. In this class you get Lee's newest, best techniques for helping you ride your bike and experience the most joy while doing so.

If you've taken a class with any LLB coaches before, just you wait. The methods are way more refined, and we're way better now.

Depending on the group's goals, we'll generally dig into:

Body positions and hinging
Purposeful braking
Pumping bumps
Envisioning and creating trajectory
Carving corners
And, most important, how to use your mind, emotions and riding buddies to cultivate the most possible joy out of every ride.

Riding dynamically

Our approach is simple, logical and powerful. You’ll see immediate, tremendous improvement in your riding. As you master the fundamentals, it’s a smooth progression to more advanced skills like hopping, dropping, jumping and technical climbing. We build your foundation of great riding — and we show you how to progress as high as you want.

All of our lessons use the same cognitive structure, but each clinic and group ride is unique to the individual riders and the local terrain. Depending on the local trails, you can expect to explore rock gardens, drops, jumps and technical climbs/descents.

These core skills will help you ride everywhere, whether you are cruising on local singletrack or ripping the ski resorts. Once you get these fundamentals, it’s a series of simple steps to more advanced stuff like:

• Hopping in/out of turns• Turns with rocks, ruts, drops, etc.

IMPORTANT: We do not skip steps, and we will not let you do something unless we know you’re ready.

We use our teaching method with riders of all styles and levels, from kids to retirees, from XC riders to downhillers, from beginners to pros. This stuff works—and it’s fun!

NOTE: Any coach who promises to teach you hopping, dropping, jumping or other advanced (and potentially dangerous) skills in a public class is dangerously ignorant or willfully dishonest. We will elevate your riding as much as possible, but we prioritize safety and fun.

Learn to rip with RipRow™

In this class, we do a fun progression on the RipRow then, all of a sudden, you're a better rider.

Meet your coach:

Kevin is a special blend of intellectual giant and physical badass. He has an Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Bacherlor's degree in Applied Technology Education, a Masters in Online Education, and a Doctorate in Curriculum Development. He is a highly skilled rider with a strong background in racing and freestyle, and he is an excellent teacher.
