Overview

Qi gong, meditation, and mindful listening. Always free. No pretending. People meet here, become friends, and do community care together.

November through April, we are practicing on the Butler University's south campus at the College of Education/CTS.

  • Park in the lot at 4250 Haughey Avenue. All spaces are free parking on Sundays regardless of signage.
  • Enter through the double doors off the circle on Haughey Avenue by the chapel on the Northeast side of the building. These doors are usually unlocked for mass on Sundays. There may be someone holding the door who greets you. Upon entering the building, turn left. (Those going to the church service will turn right).
  • Make your way to the end of the hallway and turn right at the end.
  • Continue walking until you reach an open area with multiple rows of benches to your left.
  • Past the benches, you will find several classrooms. Our reserved space is room number 132. This room will be on the left and should be unlocked. This is our reserved space.

Hello! My name is Tony Nguyễn Wiederhold. My pronouns are he/him. I've been leading yoga, qi gong, and meditation practices here in Indianapolis since 2013 and have a daily meditation practice slightly older than that.

This is a space of community care, sincere practice, and ordinary humanity for all of us who'd like to live in a world where everyone has food, shelter, healthcare, and safety. If you are disturbed and/or outraged by exploitation, profiteering, and genocide and enjoy being in the natural world (trees! flowers! kitties! birds!), and sharing snacks, you might enjoy hanging out with us.

No special knowledge or experience needed. Come as you are. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring something to sit on, like a blanket, mat, chair, or cushion.

Schedule

Qi Gong. 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. We’ll find ease and strength in the body through a series of flowing movements set to music. This practice is all standing (seated is also ok) and suitable for a broad range of abilities and body types.

Meditation. 10:05 – 10:45 a.m. Sitting quietly together with nothing to achieve or attain. No special knowledge, experience, belief, or non-belief required. Just be natural. Our practice form is simple: quiet, seated meditation, then walking meditation, then a bit more seated meditation. A few cushions are available. It's also fine to lie down. Again, nothing to acheive or attain.

Reflection. 10:45 - 11:00 a.m. We pass the microphone around the circle. If you like, you may introduce yourself and share whatever is on your heart. If you don't feel like sharing, you may pass the mic to the next person.

Tea and Snack Break

Mindful Listening and Dialogue. 11:20 a.m. - noon: After a brief tea and comfort break, we practice one of our four flavors of facilitated listening practice. Group discussion follows. Share any questions, reflections, and observations and hear what others have to share. It’s ok to just listen, too. We close practice with loving-kindness and wishes for well being.

Safety

If you have any symptoms of contagious illness (e.g. coughing, fever, runny nose, body aches, malaise, etc.), please stay home and recover. Thank you for caring for your health and the well-being of people attending practice.

See you soon!

Love, Tony
