Description:

The Motivational Interviewing: Beyond the Basics workshop targets clinicians seeking an intermediate level of Motivational Interviewing training. The learner will consider MI's application to a broad use of behavior changes ranging from health behaviors to substance use. The workshop is comprised of a largely didactic model. Learners will leave with an enhanced knowledge of tangible clinical interventions to be utilized with clients, targeting collaboratively identified problem behaviors.

Participants will learn how Motivational Interviewing's emphasis on change talk makes it unique. Participants will learn tangible skills for eliciting change talk with their clients, helping them to gain and enhance motivation towards making meaningful behavioral changes.

Objectives:

• Recognize Motivational Interviewing’s emphasis on change talk.

• Identify the four processes of Motivational Interviewing.

• Identify change talk and describe responses that evokes additional change language.

Format: Live Zoom (once registered you will find a link on the online event page)

CECHs: 3 Continuing Education Contact Hours.

Skill Level: Recommended for LMSW beginning and intermediate skill levels.
