* Due to high demand those living or working in Montgomery County and those who have completed Motivational Interviewing Fundementals/How to Engage for Change will be given priority*

Building on the foundation presented during "Motivational Interviewing; Fundamentals", this presentation will practice skills to help guide an individual through the change process once engagement has been established. While integrating basic engagement techniques, the session will introduce further information on focusing, providing information, evoking change talk, and knowing when and how to move between the other methods of motivational interviewing. Like fundamentals, this session is most appropriate for those whose primary focus is helping others make long term changes, especially those who may be reluctant to do so. Skills learned in previous trainings are practiced in more difficult contexts and additional skills to evoke are learned. This session is designed for those who have already completed Motivational Interviewing Fundamentals. Individuals who have taken "How to Engage in Change" may also be appropriate for this class but should be prepared for references to materials that may not have been covered in that session.

CEUs

Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services has been approved by:

the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board to offer continuing education credit hours to Counselors and Social Workers (Provider #RCS111304) and has approved this training for 11 hours (continuing) CEUs;

the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board to offer recognized clock hours to Chemical Dependency Counselors and Prevention Professionals (Provider #50-17863) and has approved this training for 11 hours of CEUs (C2) (P3).

The Ohio Board of Nursing will accept a continuing education activity that has been approved by a board or an agency that regulates a health care profession or related discipline in Ohio including the Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Information regarding continuing education requirements is available on the OBN website here.

Other licensing boards may also accept these hours, however it is the attendee’s responsibility to establish this prior to attending.

In order to ethically provide CEUs, we use a platform that generates attendance time reports. We must have a total time in attendance for each participant in order to issue CEUs and the CEUs issued are based on the total amount of time accumulated between the time an attendee joins and the time the attendee logs off. We are ethically bound to report the accumulated amount of time a participant attended, therefore we cannot issue CEUs to those:

· sharing a monitor, computer, and/or login

· failing to ensure their name label includes their first and last name

· joining by phone

· missing more than 10 minutes of a training that is 60 minutes in length

CEUs will be adjusted to the nearest quarter hour to reflect the amount of time present for sessions over 60 minutes in length.
