We will gather on Friday mornings at Princess Pavilion to cultivate through meditation practice a pleasant steadiness of body, heart and mind, and to nurture helpful ways of relating to ourselves and our experience. In doing so, we sow seeds that ripen into greater ease, happiness and appreciation in our lives.
What should I expect?
We will meet in the beautiful sub-tropical oasis of the Quarry (or undercover in the Pavilion Garden whenever there's a chance of rain), and you can opt to join the Whatsapp group to be notified of the exact location on the day.
We will spend most of the class in two separate periods of guided meditation, with a short, simple and optional mindful-movement sequence offered inbetween.
All comers are welcome, including those who are totally new to meditation, and you will have the option to sit on a chair, lay down, or sit on a zafu (meditation cushion) on the floor.
Please arrive in good time for a 10.00am start.
What will I need?
Yoga mats, meditations cushion, chairs and blankets are provided. If you have your own props, then you are warmly invited to bring them along.
Cover from unseasonal weather is available in the Pavilion Garden, but please dress to stay comfortable for the hour-long outdoor class.
Why is it a donation event?
Andrew is deeply inspired by the Buddhist tradition of dana (generosity) and offers his meditation classes in line with this beautiful principle.
The teaching is offered freely in the hope that it will be valuable to those that attend, and you are in turn invited to offer support in line with your sense of that value, and as appropriate to your circumstances. This approach means we have the chance to step outside of the usual service provider/consumer dynamic and into a more wholesome and conscious relationship of mutual support and reciprocity.
Donations are invited when you register (selecting the Donation ticket) so that those who can and wish to offer their financial support, can do so. Please consider donating if your circumstances allow, as this ensures the ongoing sustainability of the mornings and means that others can benefit from the class, regardless of their own income or circumstances. It is also possible to donate on the day.
In a world where nearly everything has a price tag this is an unusual arrangement, so for those who wish for more guidance, a suggested donation of £5-10 is mentioned, but please hold these figures lightly, proceeding with sensitivity to your circumstances.
If you wish to attend but are unable to offer financial support, please do come along for free and feel most welcome to do so, but please also still register, selecting the Free ticket option, so that I know who to expect and who to contact if the need arises.
With thanks for your generosity and support.
Is it every week?
Not quite! Due to other commitments (mostly family and work) the class is happening most Fridays through the summer, but not every week, so please check the dates carefully.
Can I get in touch?
Yes please do get in touch if you have questions, using the contact button.
