About this event

Nancy Unger will deliver this richly illustrated talk which presents Mountain View as a mirror reflecting some of the larger transformations during a crucial period in the development of California and the nation. Placed in this context, the story of Mountain View's growth, especially its business and agricultural development, sheds important light on topics including technological innovation, railroads, immigration, political reform, and leisure.

Mountain View contributed significantly to the growth of the state as well as the nation through its specialty crops, and to the empowerment of women through its clubs and suffrage campaigns.

The event is free and open to the public. Please register so that we know how to set up the room and how many refreshments to provide. The room will hold a maximum of 60 people.
