In September 2014, Cal Poly officially announced funding for a major project dedicated to highlighting, celebrating and enhancing the Learn by Doing experience that guides the Cal Poly community both in and outside of the classroom. The project launched with an inaugural campus conference in May of 2015, which was a huge success with over 300 attendees.

The second campus conference will take place on Friday, November 3, 2017, in accordance with Homecoming weekend. Featuring posters and presentations on active learning, undergraduate and graduate student research, and students' interactions in the field, the conference is a special opportunity for alumni to join faculty, staff and students in honoring our unique institutional identity. When it comes to Learn by Doing, Cal Poly has written the book, and the fall 2017 campus conference will continue that legacy.
