Moonshake with Lychee and Jamie O’Sullivan

The Moonshake monthly residency continues at SPACE! International and local DJs, an immersive light show by C. Gilman, and custom sound design. Proper dance party vibes with mixes spanning house, footwork, disco, electro, dancefloor, techno, and beyond.

June’s party features sets from NYC underground mainstay Lychee and Portland scene veteran Jamie O’Sullivan.

Lychee is a thoughtful, bubbly raveworld fixture. A colorful and exploratory DJ, writer, and event organizer, Lychee manifests underground energy with a magical, scintillating take on technoid psychedelia and relentless, meaningful inquiry. In addition to holding down regular appearances at Basement, Nowadays, and Bossa Nova Civic Club, Lychee runs Spontaneous Affinity, a monthly mix and interview series and occasional event platform focused on how dancefloors have shaped artists, is part of the Antidote and Meridian event collectives, co-runs the label Unimatrix Zero, and is on the board for the Aslice Foundation. 

Lychee got their start as a radio DJ for WMFO, Tufts' college radio station, in 2007. Since starting to play out in 2012, they have played alongside artists like Takaaki Itoh, Objekt, Rrose, Legowelt, Claude Young, and Honey Soundsystem. In addition to playing out, Lychee has organized skillshare events, taught DJ workshops, and curated a speaker event about inclusivity in music technology.

Jamie O’Sullivan has been Hosting and DJing his party LOVE in Portland Maine for 14 years now. It has become Portland's longest running underground dance party. He reps A\V club (Awesome Vibes Only) and Heartspace.

He’s been a dancer his whole life. From the living room to the corner in front of 7-11 at age 8. Jamie’s been down. He attended his first rave in 1992 and was a regular at clubs as a teen. Traveling up and down the east coast in the 90’s. He soon had found NYC nightclubs and parties like Shelter and Body&Soul. These parties schooled him on the old school, Dance and Music. Surrounded by people who had been regulars at The Loft and Paradise Garage. From there he started collecting a lot of music through the early 2000's. He first started a small night at the Whiteheart in Portland, Maine in 2008. Then started Love at Flask Lounge in 2011. Soon after he started connecting with other djs and beautiful party people from all over. He’s played events like Boiler Room, Honcho Campout, Bearmania, and done mixes for Honey Soundsystem, Signal Noise, Great Circles, XOXA, etc. His music taste is everything from disco to techno, but finds himself drawn to mix old and new sounds. Bringing it to that timeless place.
