MOONLIT TRAM TOUR in the FAKAHATCHEE PRESERVE
Overview
Thanks to the Moonlit Tram Tours, you can now view the magnificent Fakahatchee Preserve under the illumination of a full moon rising. The “Ghost Rider” tram, named in honor of the famous Ghost Orchid found in the Preserve, lets you tour the park without concentrating on the road.
Tour departure is timed to arrive at the location where the full moon rises at the horizon, a “golden hour” known to be ideal for photography as well as being prime time for spotting some of the protected mammals and birds settling in for the evening.
The tram is high and dry and will provide an excellent platform for viewing features illuminated by moonlight. City-dwellers will be amazed at how their vision changes as their eyes adapt to the light the moon provides.
The tram is wheelchair accessible and some seats face backwards.
Participants will be required to sign a standard release of liability form.
Please note the specific departure time for each tour, as time for the moonrise varies throughout the year.
Participants will receive arrival instructions the day before the tour.
IMPORTANT: The tour's end time is only an estimate, it may finish slightly later than scheduled. Please note that the tour will not be shortened to accommodate those who plan to leave the park at an exact time.
The tram leaves from the ranger station at corner of Janes Scenic Drive and Coastline Drive, Copeland (not an Naples address).
CAUTION: The ONLY access to Janes Scenic Drive is Via Route 29. DO NOT rely on GPS or Google Map info which will show other routes that were closed a long time ago. If driving I-75 take Exit 80.
