Moonlit Hike

Join Park Rangers for an evening under the full moon with a guided hike from the Cabin District to History Grove inside Valles Caldera National Preserve.

Activites will include curated stories connected to Valles Caldera, an approximately 2-mile hike on the road from the Cabin District to History Grove and back, and a short workshop on astrophotography.

Evening temperatures at Valles Caldera in the wintertime can hover between 0-20 degrees Fahrenheit. Please plan to dress accordingly.

Depending on if there is snow, the hike will be conducted in snowshoes, which are available to rent onsite if you do not own a pair.

If you would like to participate in the astrophotography workshop, you will need to provide your own equipment.

Valles Caldera is a U.S. Fee location, so plan to purchase a day pass or an Inter-Agency pass, or have your own available.
