Moondoggy
Overview
Formed in Collingwood, Ontario in 2019, Moondoggy began by playing house parties and making bedroom recordings before relocating to Toronto in 2020 to refine their sound and live performance. Fronted by brothers Jakob (vocals) and Ben Matanowitsch (saxophone/acoustic guitar), with Jonny Contini (lead guitar) and Victor Carrillo (drums), the band’s chemistry and years of collaboration have shaped their distinct style.
Their debut album, Mad and Noisy (2023), introduced a raw, heartfelt sound inspired by the landscapes and cities that shaped them. In September 2024, they released their second record, Changing Seasons, Breaking Even, recorded at Hamilton’s Catherine North Studios—a project that captured their evolution both lyrically and sonically.
Now boasting over 400,000 monthly Spotify listeners and selling out shows across Canada, Moondoggy continues to build momentum. In March 2025, the band will embark on their first-ever U.S. tour in support of their upcoming third studio album, set for release in early 2026.
