We're considering ourselves the next generation of cultural curators aiming to keep traditional culture alive and thriving. Having grown up celebrating Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn/Moon Festival with galas, performances, and dinners, this is our inaugural event to take this into our own hands.

Passed down through generations, from family homes to diasporic spaces, mahjong continues to bring people together through its unique blend of strategy, chance, and cultural heritage.

What is Mid-Autumn/Moon Festival?

In the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, Mid-Autumn/Moon Festival (中秋节) is a celebration of autumn’s harvest on the year’s brightest and roundest full moon. A time to gather with family, drink, and eat mooncakes, it is rooted in the legend of the moon goddess Chang’e and her pet Moon Rabbit.

Who is Erhua Archive?

ERHUA (儿化) is a sound-text-image archive series curated by Mina Wang Zhou and Orkid. Inspired by how the Beijing dialect’s erhua reshapes Chinese words to “sound a language anew,” our project is an exploration of “re/seeing, re/inhabiting, and re/imagining the world” (Christina Sharpe).

Who is Rhythm?

Rhythm is a women-owned space in Toronto's downtown, with a mission to be a central hub for electronic music. Beyond a party venue, Rhythm hosts workshops, panel discussions, gear demos and networking mixers. The space is home to a curated selection of vinyl records and Community Service Radio.

Who is Four Winds?

With origins in the UK, Four Winds: Toronto Chapter launched in 2024 as an inclusive, volunteer-run community dedicated to teaching and playing mahjong with a new generation. Four Winds was created in response to the growing need for ESEA (East and Southeast Asian) diasporic-centered third spaces.
