Montclair State George Segal Gallery, Red Hawk Deck, 4th Floor
Overview
Join NJEEPRE on Saturday, November 22 for a transformative exploration of "The Age of Black Metal" a visionary immersive exhibition that blends Black futurism, cosmic storytelling, and radical imagination. Through the lens of Reggio-Emilia-inspired practice, we will step into a space of sensory-rich learning, where art becomes both a playground and a provocation. Together we will explore the gallery as children do, guided by curiosity. Then we will reflect as educators on how this experience could open new possibilities for young children.
The program includes:
- A short film screening
- A Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) facilitation
- Open-ended, hands-on experiences in the gallery
Whether you are actively using Reggio Emilia practices or beginning to explore them, this program invites you to reconnect with your own sense of discovery.
The George Segal Gallery offers a new exhibit twice a year and welcomes school groups at no cost. We hope this visit inspires future class trips or classroom provocations rooted in wonder.
All attendees will be awarded a 3-hour professional development certificate.
