The Westcoast Calligraphy Society is a society of enthusiastic people with a common bond - a love of all things calligraphic.

One of our goals is to make calligraphy more visible in our community.

We meet at 7:00 pm on the fourth Wednesday of each month, from September to June. Our meetings often include an invited guest and/or insight into calligraphic techniques. We love to have visitors - especially when the visitors go on to become members.

Modern Pointed Pen with Maurelle de los Santos

This demo will give you a feel for the art of the pointed pen. If you’ve ever been curious about calligraphy, this is a great introduction - what a way to start the new year! The supplies listed are suggested only - try to use what you have if possible.

Recommended supplies:

• nibs (Nikko G, Zebra G, Brause EF66, Brause steno, Leonardt Hiro 41 OR Hunt 101) - or pointed nib of your choice

• oblique pen holder (straight pen holder is fine, if that's all you have)

• ink (sumi ink, walnut ink OR Higgins black eternal)

• smooth paper (32lb printer paper, Canson marker paper OR Rhodia)

• paper towel/rag; pencil; ruler; eraser and small jar with water
