Modality Monday: Introduction to Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release (MFR) is an amazing healing tool that can provide profound and long lasting benefits to clients and practitioners alike. This introductory modality class will provide you with a basic understanding of the fascial system and the concepts and application of MFR. We will practice palpation skills and a variety of MFR techniques, with the majority of time spent in hands-on practice.

Here we will explore the anatomy and function of fascia and the benefits and application of MFR to treat common soft tissue complaints. Participants will develop basic palpation skills, practice core MFR techniques and learn how to apply MFR in their treatment session.

In this interactive hands-on BASIC Introductory class, you will learn:

1. Description of the Modality

2. Account of its historical development

3. Benefits & Contraindications

4. Specific techniques for basic training

Please wear comfortable flexible clothing.

Bring a set of sheets, pillowcase or face cradle cover, blanket, and pump bottle with your preferred lotion or cream.

Certificates of completion will be issued at the end of the class. Please use the name you want on your certificate when you register.

You Do NOT need to bring a table, we have plenty!

This class will be with current massage students at the WIofCC however only licensed massage therapists will earn continuing education credits.
