What to Expect:

  • A morning and afternoon filled with inspirational speakers, including elected officials, community leaders, and champions of recovery.
  • March for Recovery through the Boston Common to raise awareness and reduce stigma.
  • Resources and information tables from recovery support organizations.
  • Opportunities to connect, advocate, and celebrate the power of recovery

National Recovery Month, observed every September since 1989, promotes new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, honors the recovery community, and recognizes the work of providers and community members who make recovery in all its forms possible.

Founded in 1991 by Maryanne Frangules and Leroy Kelly, the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR) is a statewide recovery advocacy organization. MOAR organizes individuals in recovery, their families, and friends to be a unified voice educating the public and policymakers about the importance of addiction recovery.

This annual celebration and march:

  • Raises awareness about the reality and hope of recovery
  • Recognizes providers and peer leaders who make recovery possible
  • Celebrates individuals and families living in recovery every day

Recovery is real, recovery is possible, and recovery is worth celebrating.
