Dive into the world of live sound for theater and events in this introductory workshop, part of Miami Light Project’s Technical Fellowship Program for emerging Miami-based technicians.

Led by Andre Best, a passionate sound mixer and Miami native, this session will introduce the fundamentals of audio, including equipment basics, console operation, and the creative problem-solving skills required to deliver excellent sound under real-world conditions. Whether you’re new to audio or looking to build a foundation in live event sound, this workshop offers valuable insights from an industry professional who works in the field every day.

About the Instructor:Andre Best is a working sound mixer who has been active in the field since 2018. A graduate of Miami Dade College’s School of Entertainment & Design Technology, Andre began mixing sound in film classes before building his own sound kit and launching a freelance career. With a deep commitment to quality and a belief in the essential role of sound in storytelling, Andre brings both technical know-how and lived experience to this workshop.

About the Technical Fellowship Program:Miami Light Project’s Technical Fellowship Program supports the growth of early-career theater technicians through a mix of hands-on training and paid experience. The program includes:

  • Workshops in Lighting, Audio, Video, Stage Management, Light Board, Finance & Grants, and more
  • Entry to professional industry demos and mentorship opportunities
  • 40 hours of supervised job training during live events
  • Eligibility for paid internships after completing training
  • Employment support and access to career pathways in the arts
