MLK Day of Service: Invasive vegetation removal near National Landing
Overview
The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail will be improving the trail near National Landing.
Volunteers may perform some of the following work:
- Using pruners and loppers to cut vegetation
- Using hand saws to cut tree branches
- Hauling away vegetation
- Picking up trash
What to Bring:
- Water
- Gloves (We'll have some to borrow)
- Long sleeves and long pants (we sometimes encounter poison ivy)
Where to Check-in:
See the picture below of where the check-in table will be located on the trail. You can enter the trail near the National Landing Water Park and walk through the pedestrian tunnel. It is a 6 minute walk (0.3 miles) from the entrance of the trail to the meeting spot. Please factor this walk into your timing for arriving at the event. We will have red directional arrows on the trail.
