About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

📅 Event Overview:

Join us for the MKE Heroes Safe & Strong Summer Series — a free, family-friendly training series bringing life-saving emergency skills, conflict resolution tools, and youth safety education right into Milwaukee’s Promise Zone neighborhoods.

This initiative is led by Hand Up Resource Center, in partnership with the City of Milwaukee Office of Community Wellness & Safety and BTG Mediation LLC (Beverly Taylor-Gladney). Together, we’re bringing hands-on training and real resources to five Milwaukee County Parks in designated Promise Zones — areas that deserve safety, resilience, and community care.

🔑 What to Expect:

  • CPR & First Aid Certification — gain confidence to save a life - Ages 16 years & Up
  • De-Escalation & Conflict Resolution Workshops — practical tools to reduce harm and build peace - Ages 12-15 years
  • 9-1-1 for Kids Program — teaching our youngest residents how and when to call for help - Ages 4 - 11 years
  • Hands-on practice & resources for adults, youth, and families

🤝 Who Should Attend:

Everyone! Neighbors, youth groups, faith communities, block clubs, and families — all are welcome to train, connect, and walk away ready to protect each other.

🌳 Why It Matters:

We believe everyday people can be everyday heroes. When our neighborhoods have the skills, tools, and confidence to respond in emergencies, we save lives, reduce violence, and make our Promise Zone communities safer and stronger for everyone.
