CIARA MOSER Ensemble

As a professional bassist and someone who has been blind since birth, part of Dublin-born/Austria-raised/Boston-based Ciara Moser’s identity has shaped her unique journey through life and music in a profound way.

Moser showcases her versatility across various musical styles and genres, seamlessly blending into band, orchestra, film, and ensemble projects, both in live performances and studio sessions.

She earned her Master’s in jazz performance from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute at Berklee College of Music under the guidance of esteemed mentors like John Patitucci, Danilo Perez, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Victor Wooten. Additionally, she holds a master’s degree in music pedagogy from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

During her time pursuing her Master’s Degree at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, she was deeply inspired by the theme of using music as a vehicle for social change and enhanced her skills for playing & composing with intention and zeal. This shaped her goals for sharing her message through music in the form of a debut studio album centered around her journey on blindness.

In October 2023, Moser released her debut album, “Blind. So What?” receiving praise and reviews from several major publications, and was honored with the 2023 “Young Jazz Composers Award” by the ASCAP Foundation.

Moser’s talent and dedication have earned her various awards such as winning the “2024 Next Jazz Legacy” award, and the 2024 “New generation jazz lab competition, securing a spot in the Jazz Ahead Program led by Jason Moran, and Woodshed Network Residency led by Dee Dee Bridgewater.

A few words from the Festival curator, Luisa Harris:

I would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to YOU, the audience, because through your attendance, ticket purchase, and commitment to the arts and community, you are truly making the festival possible and treasured!

Highly valued and appreciated is the philanthropic contribution of ARTS TALKS in curating and organizing the Festival. In coordinating these gatherings, this organization aims to encourage the discovery or application of one's artistic essence.

Once again, we want to recognize the valued collaboration with CELEBRITY SERIES OF BOSTON NEIGHBORHOOD ARTS with whom we are presenting this year's concerts. Throughout the years, this organization continues to pursue its commitment in support of the arts and the artists, always in meaningful and effective ways and, in so doing, inspiring every neighborhood in Boston!

Equally important is the trust and confidence in the Festival by the MISSION HILL / FENWAY NEIGHBORHOOD TRUST ! Among the many quality projects they choose every year, we are honored and grateful for their belief in the impact the Festival can have through the Arts! They are a sustaining force for our community!

- TOBIN COMMUNITY CENTER, providing the welcoming location of THE YARD for the Festival’s events

- NORTHEASTERN OFF CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT AND SUPPORT, committed to connect students who live off-campus with their community and so adding a positive contribution to the neighborhood
