MIS-Cast: How To Define "Type"-Two Weeks, Four Sessions

By Future Artists of Los Angeles

Overview

Take the guess work out of your casting and take back your power as to how the industry sees you!

Ready to sink your teeth into your dream role, even if it doesn’t necessarily match your “type”? Are you tired of only working on material that aligns with your casting? Welcome to the “Miscast Class” - a workshop inspired by the infamous annual “Miscast” Gala in New York City. This class will provide the space and opportunity to tackle material you’ve been told isn’t “you” but you feel passionately drawn to. Students will stretch themselves, tap into their joy, and expand their repertoire and skillset in the process.

About The Instructor:
Becca Lustgarten is a celebrated actor, writer, and teacher with over 15 years of professional experience. With a wide-ranging background from classical to contemporary works, Becca prides
herself on taking a flexible and playful approach to performer training. As an educator, Becca is driven by the desire to amplify and celebrate individual artistry, aiming to create a space where students feel seen and heard so that they feel inspired to choose growth and abandon their zones of comfort.

Becca completed her undergraduate training at Boston University and received her MFA from the acclaimed University of San Diego/Shiley Graduate Acting Program. Becca is a proud member of the National Alliance of Acting Teachers, where she recently completed the Teacher Development Program, a performance educator training conference led by internationally celebrated artists and teachers from top institutions around the country.

What To Bring
Water, clothes to move in, something to take notes with, and the courage to say what it is YOU want to play instead of letting others define it for you.
