NFPA 1021 • Hybrid Course • MBFTE Reimbursable

Are you ready to take the next step in your fire service career? The North Star Training Fire Officer 1 Course is designed for future leaders who want to make decisive, informed, and safe choices on and off the fireground. This hybrid program blends flexible online learning with engaging, hands-on instruction to prepare you for real-world leadership challenges.

You’ll learn how to:

🔥 Command fireground operations confidently and efficiently
🔥 Make critical decisions under pressure
🔥 Lead, mentor, and evaluate personnel
🔥 Communicate effectively during high-stress incidents
🔥 Manage risk, safety, and strategic objectives
🔥 Apply NFPA 1021 standards to real-world scenarios

Throughout the course, you’ll participate in scenario-based leadership exercises, practical decision-making drills, and team-focused management activities—all designed to build strong leadership skills that you can put to work immediately.

Course Schedule

Friday: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Online learning begins mid-January and must be completed prior to the in-person weekend.

MBFTE Reimbursable Training

This course is fully eligible for MBFTE reimbursement, making it a cost-effective option for departments across Minnesota.

Prerequisite

Fire Instructor 1 certification is required prior to enrollment.
