Learn the fundamentals of sock knitting on a small scale with this festive and fast project! Over three weeks, you’ll knit an adorable mini stocking while exploring the key techniques used in full-sized socks — including working in the round, turning a heel, picking up stitches, and shaping the toe.
Prerequisite: Students must be comfortable with knitting and purling before class begins.
This class is perfect for confident beginners ready to take the next step into sock construction. Any skill level above confident beginner is welcome!By the end, you’ll have a charming little stocking to hang or gift, it's the perfect size for gift cards! — and the confidence to cast on your first pair of socks!
Mondays, November 24, December 1, and December 8
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in your choice of color(s)
- US size 6 (4.0 mm) 40-inch circular needle (for magic loop method)
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle for finishing
Pattern: The class does not include the pattern. Students will purchase the Tiny Treasures Mini Stocking pattern ($5) on Ravelry at the beginning of the first class.
