Mindful Writing Workshop: Haiku for the Turn of the Year
Overview
Welcome to the Mindful Writing Workshop: Haiku for the Turn of the Year! Join us at Sol Hot Yoga and Movement on December 7, 2025 at 3:00 PM (Pacific Time) for a relaxing and creative experience. This workshop will guide you through the art of haiku writing, perfect for reflecting on the past year and setting intentions for the new one. No writing experience needed, just an open mind and a willingness to explore. Let's come together to write, share, and embrace the power of words. See you there!
*Part of your registration fee will go to support The Good Listening Project (goodlistening.org), a nonprofit that supports human connection in health care using the tools of listening and poetry.
This workshop will be facilitated by Marion and Dylan Tweney,
About Marion:
Born and raised in France, I had a vivid awakening at age six, where I clearly understood my purpose was to be of service to people, through the healing arts.
I studied human sciences at Université Louis Pasteur, moved to California in 1999 to begin my journey through the exploration of multiple modalities: for the past 25 years I have been practicing energy work, somatic therapies, and bodywork. My personal Reiki journey ignited inherently through distilling a refined connection with the energetic and subtle layers of the body, which led me to complete a Reiki Master apprenticeship in 2015. I weave in complementary holistic offerings: guided meditation as a certified Chopra Primordial Sound Meditation instructor, and intuitive psychic readings as an ordained Reverend of the Church of Natural Grace.
About Dylan:
I am a writer, editor, Certified Listener Poet, and the publisher of the international journal tinywords (tinywords.com), the world's largest publisher of tiny poems, now in its 25th year.
I discovered the thrill of publishing early, when Cricket magazine published one of my cartoons and awarded it first prize among 9- to 12-year-olds. Other kids got sugar highs from too much ice cream; I got a publishing high from Cricket that has lasted a lifetime. I studied poetry with Louise Glück and religion with the theologian Mark C. Taylor, then went on to work as a journalist for many technology magazines and websites, including WIRED and VentureBeat.
I’m a meditation and mindfulness practitioner in the Vietnamese Zen (Thien) tradition of Thích Nhất Hạnh and an active participant in the global Plum Village community he founded.
When I'm not writing, I'm probably out swimming in the nearest large body of water.
