On Sunday, December 8th we close the Lyceum with a live storytelling performance with Amber Abundance that is inspired by a single musical work.

As no church service is complete without music, we will use this space to dig into Betty Wright’s Live album. Amber’s Intention with this project is to preserve the history of Black music through building an archive of vinyl records and sharing them with community. This space asks us how we share Black cultural productions, how we interrogate the creatives who make our hearts dance with their work, and how we navigate the sacred and profane as living archives.

Amber will be joined in conversation by Stevie Elem - Rogers and Kelela, two brilliant women whose work reminds us to straighten our backs.

Opening and closing this space we are honored to have phlegm and Ashley Younniä- Black DJ’s dedicated to teaching us something new every time they touch the decks.

Each of these workshops intends to remind us of the power in our communities, that we are all learners and teachers, and that despair is not an option when so many of your neighbors, friends, comrades, and fellow insurgents are working to make the world softer for you. For all of us.
