Midarm Basics and Certification @ Ace Makerspace

Get certified to use Ace’s PFAFF Midarm Free Motion Sewing Machine! This tool is phenomenal for quilting large blocks, free-motion sewing, decorative stitching and more. In this certification class, students will explore safe Midarm operation in the Ace Textiles studio while getting hands on practice with the basics like threading and oiling the machine, winding the bobbin and adjusting bobbin tension and more.
Level: Ambitious Beginner (some previous sewing experience like Sewing 101 Bootcamp or equivalent)
Timing: 2 hour
Location: Coworking/Textiles, Suite #206
Prerequisites: Sewing 101 or relevant experience
Certification: Midarm
Age: 14+ (minors need to bring an adult, but the adult doesn’t need to do the project)

- The anatomy of the Midarm
- Threading and oiling the machine
- Winding the bobbin and adjusting bobbin tension
- What kinds of projects you can make and materials you can use (and what to avoid)
- Etiquette for using the machine at Ace and how to report issues
