FAQs
What are your Covid policies?
As we have learned in the past years, the pandemic and recommended health protocols can change rapidly. Thus, we can't tell you exactly what protocols we will have in place come April. However, we can tell you that if world health organizations recommend we require proof of full vaccination of all our guests (specific medical exemptions will be handled case-by-case) because of a serious increase in cases, we may do so. We will monitor the situation and fully communicate our policies closer to the date, but expect them to be on the cautious side. In the past vaccinations and boosters were required, all attendees had to take a rapid test upon arrival and confirm they had no known recent exposure. Hopefully that will not be necessary in 2026. Masks are not required. If that feels like too much or not enough, please consider if our event is right for you and your comfort level. We will not be offering refunds because you are not happy with the protocols. We did have a couple of cases after the 2023 retreat so we'd like to keep everyone feeling safe enough to enjoy the weekend.
What's included in the ticket price?
The ticket includes access to the sewing room during the retreat (Thurs 2pm-Sun 6pm, the sewing room closes from 2am-6am each morning) and participation in all activities other than workshops (those are paid separately to the instructor). It does not include meals. It does not include your hotel which MUST be booked through our room block.
Do MQG members get a discount?
Only members of the 5 sponsoring guilds (Central Jersey, Philadelphia, North Jersey, DC, and Baltimore) who register during the early-registration will receive a discount. Your MQG officers can provide you with the discount code.
The retreat is already full! Do you have a wait list?
Yes, please register for the wait list and you will be contacted should a spot open up. Waitlist is taken in order, so be sure to sign up right away. (NOTE: The waitlist does not open during the early registration, only after general registration is full).
How do I book my hotel room?
After your registration is complete you will get a confirmation email with details of how to book your hotel room. You will be required to submit your reservation number or the name of your roommate to us. You must book through the hotel in our room block and NOT through a third party like Expedia etc.
Only registered attendees may book a room in our block. If a non-attendee books a room in the block it will be cancelled. If you book duplicate rooms for yourself (to save one for a friend), we will cancel one and you may forfeit your retreat ticket.
What happens if I don't book a hotel room?
Unless you purchase one of the limited local attendee passes ($75 supplemental fee IN ADDITION to the regular ticket), you will forfeit your retreat ticket without a refund.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Not by you personally, but the organizers will attempt to transfer to the next person on the waitlist if you need to cancel. There is a fee of $50 to transfer a registration which will not be refunded. Registrations can only be transferred until 1 week prior to event. After that no refunds will be made .
Can I update my registration information?
Yes, you may change your contact information at a later date.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Nope, no ticket required. You will be given a pdf ticket you can print and bring if you'd like, but it's not required.
What is the refund policy?
Refunds are only made (less a $50 fee) if we are able to find a replacement for your spot. You may NOT transfer your registration yourself to someone else. If you are a part of guild block, the person replacing you may not be from your guild. Please familiarize yourself with the registration process ahead of time. If you make duplicate reservations, you will not be refunded the cancellation fee.
Local attendee passes also incur a REFUND FEE of $15 to cover the Eventbrite fees and processing. Please don't register for a local attendee pass unless you know you will use it. Remember this is NOT A TICKET TO THE EVENT on its own.
Registrations can only be transferred until 1 week prior to event. After that no refunds will be made except for some covid cases.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
NO, if you need to transfer to another person, you must allow us to do so and incur the $50 fee.
I have a friend or family member who's not registered but wants to come along for some or all of the time. Is that OK? They will only use my space so it shouldn't bother anyone.
NO. Only registered attendees are admitted into the ballroom. You cannot share your table/space with someone else. They cannot use your space when you are elsewhere. You cannot have non-sewing friends or family in the room. Mid-Atlantic MOD is a highly social event, and we love that you want to socialize with quilters and others, but attendance is specifically limited to ensure optimum workspace and your table/area is for you and you alone. All our registered guests rely on the fact that all attendees will have followed the same health protocols. If you don't adhere to this policy, you may be asked to leave the event.
What about workshops? How do I find out about those and sign up?
Registration for workshops will be separate from retreat registration. After general registration, attendees will receive an email with information on how/when to register. The class descriptions will be on our website. If you don't receive emails from our mailing list, please let us know and we will try to help you work out the issue.
I'm not sure about workshops. Can I sign up and decide I don't want to take it later?
No. By signing up you are committing to taking the workshop. You will be required to pay the $15 fee in cash when you sign in to the retreat. Failure to do so will cause you to lose your spot at MOD. You will not be permitted to enter the retreat until your workshops are paid so please bring cash with you to the sign-in desk. The reason for this is that the teachers must prepare materials etc. for class and need to know the number of students in advance.
I didn't sign up for any workshops but I might be interested when I get there. Is it possible to sign up during the course of the weekend?
Yes, but only if there is space. Only a limited number of students can fit in the classroom. Many of the classes fill up and you'll only be able to sign up for those with open spots.
How many workshops can I take? Is the schedule I signed up for guaranteed?
We did not put a limit on the number of workshops you can sign up for. There are a limited number of spots in each class and they are first-come, first-served. Classes may be cancelled due to lack of interest, so, no, your schedule isn't guaranteed.
Can I be assured to sit near my friends at MOD? Do you have reserved tables?
No, there is no guarantee you will be able to sit near all your friends at MOD. We do not have the capability of reserving tables. Most often, our attendees are flexible and we've usually been able to accommodate most groups. But, one of the goals of MOD is to foster new connections in the MQG world and to invite socialization beyond your current friends. We promise it's fun! Give it a try. We will make clear the seating policy closer to the event, but in the past we have allowed each guest to save a place for one friend.
