The audience will join the Westwood Presbyterian Chancel Choir, six esteemed vocal soloists and the Westwood Presbyterian Chamber Orchestra, forming a 150-voice choir as part of the traditional “Messiah Sing-A-Long,” one of the few events of this kind in greater Los Angeles.
Composed over a three-week period in 1741, “Messiah” is a holiday favorite and regarded as one of the Handel’s finest oratorios. It includes such renowned arias and choruses as the celebratory “Ev’ry valley shall be exalted”, the exuberant “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion” and the majestic “Hallelujah”.
The “Messiah” vocal soloists are Christina Borgioli (soprano), Devon Davidson (soprano), Emily Kerrigan (mezzo-soprano), Elias Berezin (tenor), Emerson Boatwright (tenor) and Matthew Lewis (bass). The entire evening, under the baton of music director Dan Redfeld, promises to be an exciting ushering-in of the Advent/Christmas season.
Admission to Messiah is $25 for adults, $10 for students collected at the door and available here on Eventbrite prior to the concert. Guests under 18 are admitted free. Vocal scores will be available for purchase for $12 at the door.
Free parking is available adjacent to the church. For more information, or to become part of our Music at Westwood mailing list, please contact us at office@westwoodpres.org or (310) 474-4535, or visit our website at www.westwoodpres.org.
