Core to every Museum’s Education department is their team of gallery educators. Whether in the form of paid staff educators, volunteer docents, visitor service representatives or a combination of these three (or more), these key members of the museum community often serve as visitor’s first impression and are also most likely responsible for the lasting impression of many visitors’ overall museum experiences.

Join MESC and the Bowers Museum as they present staff and docent voices from some of the regions leading institutions in a panel conversation on best practices in training and evaluation of docents/educators particularly in response to the responsibility of museums in the 21st Century to provide visitors access to inclusive, respectful, and culturally relevant interpretive experiences of their collections and spaces.

This program is generously hosted by the Bowers Museum. Educators, coordinators, managers, and docents are encouraged to attend! This event is free MESC members. RSVPs are appreciated but not required.

What are my transportation/parking options nearby?

The bus line servicing the Bowers Museum is the OCTA bus number 53. Metrolink and Amtrak trains stop at the Anaheim Station (3.5 miles from the museum), and the Santa Ana Station (1.7 miles from the museum).

Parking Lots are available directly north and south of the museum for a $6 fee. Nearby metered and timed street parking is also available.

Where do we meet?

Once you arrive, please park nearby. The event will take place inside in the auditorium at the Bowers Museum. Look for the MESC Welcome Table.

Can I sign up for the program the day of the event?

Capacity for this event is limited. We encourage you to secure your ticket in advance.

What kind of access services are available?

This MESC program is wheelchair accessible. Accessible parking spaces are available in the adjacent parking lots. A valid disabled person parking placard is required.

May I visit the Bowers Museum after the program?

Free general admission beginning at Noon will be given to all MESC attendees after the event ends. Admission will include access to the permanent galleries including AFRICAN TWILIGHT: Vanishing Rituals & Ceremonies, Gemstone Carvings: Masterworks by Harold Van Pelt, and California Bounty: Image and Identity. Admission to the special exhibit Knights in Armor is not included. To receive admission, bring your printed Eventbrite ticket to the MESC Welcome table in front of the auditorium.
