The Art of the Right-Sized Caseload: Thriving in ABA Practice
Presenter:
- Michael J. Cameron, Ph.D., BCBA-D, LBA
- Rebecca Vigil, MS
Abstract/Description:
In the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) field, organizational health and clinician retention hinge on effectively managing Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) workloads. High turnover, driven by burnout, is a critical challenge that Behavioral Systems Analysis can address through the implementation of Right-Sized Client Panels. These panels provide a structured framework for each clinician, detailing: a) their assigned clients, b) the intensity of each client’s needs, c) the treatment program intensity, d) the clinician’s self-efficacy rating in serving each client, e) required meetings, f) personal breaks, g) clinical planning and report writing time, h) case supervision time, and i) staff supervision responsibilities. Without this level of intentional planning, clinicians face overwhelming demands, leading to burnout, reduced job satisfaction, and increased turnover, which destabilizes organizations and compromises service quality. This webinar offers a systems-based approach to designing Right-Sized Client Panels, ensuring workloads align with clinician capacity and organizational goals. By integrating these elements, ABA practices can foster sustainable workloads, enhance clinician well-being, and reduce turnover. Participants will learn practical strategies to assess and implement client panels, leveraging Behavioral Systems Analysis to create balanced schedules that prioritize both client outcomes and clinician health. Join us to explore how Right-Sized Client Panels can transform your ABA organization, promoting resilience and long-term success for RBTs, BCBAs, and the clients they serve.
Objectives:
