What should I bring?

Something knitted which needs repair.  A sweater you love, a favorite pair of socks through which your toe has finally emerged.  If you own something called a mending mushroom you should bring that too.  If you don't have any of these things just bring yourself and maybe a friend or two!

What should I expect at the workshop?

We will gather and socialize for about 15 minutes.  Then the host will give a demonstration on how to mend a piece of clothing by 'darning' it.   They will show different aesthetic outcomes (example overt mending vs more subtle methods). Then you will work on mending whatever item you brought.

Lisa Goldsand is the host and will also lead the demonstration.

Do I need to be a skilled craft person or sewist do do this thing?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not.  Many simple mending tasks can be done by any regular person!  We will talk more about the merit of people taking back the agency of fixing their own stuff.  This is a discussion for several product categories, including bikes, small appliances, and clothing.
