Member Only - Embroidery Machine Certification
Overview
Prerequisite: Must have completed the Fiberarts Studio Certification to take this class.
This 2-hour, members-only certification workshop introduces you to the embroidery machine available in the Fiber Arts Studio (Bernina Bernette Deco 340). You'll learn the fundamentals of machine operation, fabric preparation, and basic embroidery techniques.
Please note:
- Members should be aware that these machines are not designed for commercial use - members will not be able to create multiple embroidered items/items for sale.
- They are not capable of producing a 'badge' with finished edges.
- The machines can do lettering, but the size of the text is limited by the 'hoop' in use.
- Fabric must be flat (no hats) and one layer must fit in a hoop (might be hard to fit a baby shirt already made into a hoop).
- The machines use one color at a time, so it can take some time to sew out a multi-colored design, and you will need to re-thread for each color change.
Upon successfully completing this workshop, you’ll be certified to use the embroidery machines independently in the studio!
Because of generous donations from the Frank Loomis Palmer Fund, the price of our certification classes has been greatly subsidized. Making them more affordable to our membership.
