Melbourne Photowalk — Hosted by CineStill & WALKENS

Join us for an evening photowalk through one of Melbourne’s most iconic creative neighborhoods on Wednesday, December 10th, beginning at 6pm. Hosted by CineStill with help from our friends at WALKENS House of Film, in honor of their 10th anniversary celebrations! This walk will take us from the heart of Fitzroy down into the city as golden hour sets in. We’ll meet first at WALKENS and head out shortly after, so don’t be late!

Whether you're a beginner learning the ropes or a seasoned film shooter looking to connect with Melbourne’s photo community, this FREE photowalk is open to everyone. Bring your favorite film camera (or digital — we won’t tell), stretch your legs, and enjoy an evening shooting alongside fellow photographers 🤝📸.

GETTING THERE
WALKENS House of Film is located at 338 Brunswick St, Fitzroy, right in the middle of one of Melbourne’s most vibrant and creative strips. It’s easy to reach by tram, bike, or rideshare, and paid street parking is available along Brunswick St and surrounding side streets. If you’re coming in from the CBD, it’s a quick tram ride up Nicholson, Smith, or Brunswick Street.

MEETUP
We’ll meet outside WALKENS at 6pm. This is a great chance to meet one of the CineStill team (Dan!), say hi to our friends at WALKENS, and connect with other local photographers about cameras, gear, and techniques before we load our film and head out. You can also stock up on film from WALKENS if you need it before the walk kicks off!

THE WALK
Our route is roughly 40 minutes of walking, stretched out with plenty of photo stops along the way. We’ll start by heading down Brunswick St, stopping at some of Fitzroy’s standout buildings and storefronts as we move toward the city during golden hour.

From there, we’ll make our way past the edge of the CBD, transition from the greenery into the city lights, and wind through Chinatown / Little Bourke St — always full of color, energy, and cinematic scenes, perfect for experimenting with CineStill film.

We’ll continue on to the brand new Town Hall Metro Station, taking advantage of its modern architecture, before ending at a nearby pub to relax and hang out. WALKENS staff will have film job bags on hand if you’d like to drop off rolls for developing. Comfortable shoes recommended!
